Why iPhone Mirroring doesn't work in the EU — and how to get it back
Apple shipped iPhone Mirroring to the rest of the world and left Europe out. If you're a Mac user in the EU wondering where the feature went, here's the story — and what you can actually do about it today.
What iPhone Mirroring was supposed to be
When Apple introduced iPhone Mirroring with macOS Sequoia, it was one of the most requested features in years: your iPhone screen, live in a window on your Mac, with your keyboard and mouse controlling it. Notifications, phone-only apps, quick checks — all without picking up the phone.
For most of the world, that's exactly what shipped. For the European Union, the feature simply never arrived.
Why Europe was left out
Apple withheld iPhone Mirroring in the EU citing regulatory uncertainty around the Digital Markets Act — the EU rules that require large platforms to open up features like this to competing devices and services. Rather than adapt the feature to the DMA's interoperability requirements, Apple chose not to ship it in the EU at all.
Whatever you think about the politics, the practical result is the same: if your Apple account region is in the EU, the feature is off, and there is no supported switch to turn it on.
The workarounds people try — and why they hurt
- Region switching — moving your Apple account to a non-EU country breaks app store purchases, subscriptions, payment methods and family sharing. Not worth it for one feature.
- Cloud mirroring services — some tools relay your phone screen through their own servers. That means your banking apps, private messages and codes travel through someone else's infrastructure.
- Waiting — the feature has skipped multiple macOS releases in the EU. There is no announced date.
The local alternative
IphoneMirrorSolution was built specifically for this gap: a native macOS app that mirrors and controls your iPhone over a USB cable or your own Wi‑Fi network. The session runs entirely between your two devices — no cloud relay, no region change, no jailbreak, nothing that breaks with the next iOS update.
- Click, type, scroll and drag with your Mac's keyboard, mouse and trackpad.
- USB for the most stable, lowest-latency session — or Wi‑Fi for a cable-free desk.
- Your screen never leaves your own network.
